Wooden spoons were widely used throughout the S.C.A's core period. The shapes of the bowls and handles and the degree of decoration used on them varied from place to place and over time.

Interested in comparing those pictured above to the wooden spoons used in the Middle Ages and Renaissance? The York Archaeological Trust Picture Library includes a photo showing the bowls of several found in that area. The Viking Answer Lady's site offers images of some beautifully-decorated handles from Sweden. And Karen Larsdatter's compiled links to pictures of some additional surviving examples and period images of wooden spoons in use from various centuries.
